As a parent or guardian, your most important duty is to keep your child safe and out of harm's way, which is why safety around the house is of massive importance, and from our perspective, baby furniture safety is obviously a prime concern.
We sell furniture that is safe, because it is designed with the children that will use it in mind. It is still important to note a few key safety tips and features when planning and putting together the baby furniture that will be used in your nursery or baby room.
Baby Cot Safety: As one of the main focus points in terms of baby furniture, the cot needs to be considered with care. The cot must not have drop sides on it, in accordance with USA safety compliance, while there should be adjustable base levels to avoid back issues. The cot itself must be solid, and should have at least 32mm thick rails, and the distance between the side rails must not be greater than 7.5cm.
Consider Materials Used: Another important consideration is finding out about the materials and paints that were used to construct the cot, compactum, feeding chair and other elements for your nursery. Dream Furniture use only Eco safe products to manufacture furniture, and this is very important for the health and safety of the baby, while water based, lead free, non-toxic paint is a non-negotiable in terms of all baby furniture that is painted.
Avoid Sharp Edges: Pointed corners and sharp edges are hazards waiting to happen, which is why baby furniture should be made to ensure that blunt edges cannot hurt the babies or toddlers using them. Kids are little explorers, and their hands will eventually find any sharp edge, so make sure there are none.
Beware Tip-Over Hazards: Too many children are hurt or worse by things around the house that can tip over and fall on the little one, which is why it is important that furniture to be used for the baby or child is sturdy and well balanced, and not at risk of falling over easily. This is also why we recommend buying a new cot or compactum rather than using second hand goods, as they may have defects or wear that can lead to problems.
Use Safety Features: There is little point to investing in a baby furniture piece that has additional safety features and then not using them. For example, if your child is using a high chair in which they can be strapped, strap them in, and ensure that modern features that form part of the furniture are used to keep your child safe.
At Dream Furniture you can count on us, as we take your child's safety very seriously, which is why we have taken all of the above into consideration when creating handmade and exclusive pieces of baby furniture for you and your children to enjoy. You will therefore have the peace of mind that comes with the knowledge that the cot, compactum and other baby furniture in your baby room was made with safety in mind.
