The building blocks of a great mind begin to fall into place at birth, and ensuring that your baby's room is a haven for learning and imagination can be the best thing you can do to ensure a strong intellect that will grow and thrive later on in life.
The nursery is the room where the child will spend the majority of their time, which is why it becomes fundamental as a foundation for the problem solving skills, motor skills and other elements of learning that the child will begin to develop at a very young age.
Using the nursery as a blank canvas will allow you to design a room that caters to the learning needs of your little one, taking into consideration the space as a whole, and designing a small area where the little one is able to sit or lie comfortably and play with educational toys presents the child with his or her very first classroom.
Temperature control is important for a baby's room, but it is also crucial that growing brains and stimulated minds receive plenty of oxygen, so ensuring good ventilation is necessary, and perhaps it is a good idea to open a window to let some light and air in when baby is out of the room or when the temperature allows.
Use every opportunity spent together in the nursery as a chance to allow your baby or toddler to learn. Their minds are so incredible at this stage, and they are able to soak up a great deal in the first years of their lives. Use soft toys, cushions and other items as tactile ways to teach, sit in your feeding chair and talk or sing to your baby. If you speak more than one language, speak them all in front of your child, as their brains will benefit from the exposure to languages, and parts of their brain will be stimulated as a result.
Use baby décor names on the walls of their rooms, so that they can learn the shapes that make up their names, and use nursery accessories such as themed caddies and curtain tiebacks as opportunities to learn and begin developing their imagination. On that note, make sure to read to your little ones, as story time will become a favourite part of the day for them, and they will learn a great deal from all of the wonderful stories that mommy and daddy read to them.
Ensure a bright future for your child by making sure that your baby room is conducive to learning, developing and growing, so that you can nurture your baby into the creative thinker, problem solver and ambitious learner that they have the potential to be.
